Smithies Deli & Gin Emporium

Established in 2000 at 16 Keptie Street, Arbroath

About our wee shop…

Patti opened Smithies Deli in October 2000 after many years in the hospitality industry running a hotel in Arbroath. We are family run deli, coffee shop & gin emporium.

The shop was originally a Thomas Lipton grocery shop and former butchers before we refurbished the shop as the deli. We renovated and kept the original Lipton tiles (the very few left in the UK!) along with the meat hooks from the butchers, which gives Smithies a unique, yet traditional appeal.

Smithies Deli is a coffee shop, delicatessen, cheese-monger & drinks emporium. We stock rum, vodka, port, whiskey, liqueurs & most famously – gin! Patti started sourcing gins in 2012, just when the gin industry really started to take off. We now take great pride in sourcing & stocking the very best gins on the market, so much so that in 2017, we changed the name of the shop to include ‘gin emporium’. As well as stocking over 100 Scottish gins and over 100 international gins, Smithies also have a great selection of tonics & mixers.

smithies Deli also holds themed evenings called “Smithies After Dark” which range from gin & cocktail nights to evening meals like Spanish, French, Italian and so on. To keep up to date with upcoming events please email smithiesafterdark@gmail.com to be added to the list!

Having the passion for gin, experience from the gin emporium (& of course drinking it!) we decided to make our own gin which ties in with Smithies Deli. We were able to use the shops logo & colour theme to create our branding.
